Malaclypse Podcast - Episode 2 featuring Half Melted Brain Records

Me and Ana, from Brighton's very own, Half Melted Brain Records, braved through the solitude of the Covid19 quarantine lock down to meet up on video chat for a natter about the label, psychedelic experiences, bands from out of space, and what life is like on lock down here in Brighton town.
The main news was of their latest release by the band, Traps, an  EP called Brain Wee, from which we heard the dreamy Drug Trumpet. We also heard music from one of my favourite from the label, Codex Serafiini, a band who have come to visit from Saturn, to learn our ways and gain inspiration from human culture. They're now stuck here under intergalactic quarantine, but luckily have brought along their new album to share, which is currently breaking chart records on over half the Saturnian moons, even going triple platinum on Ganymede.

Malaclypse Podcast: Episode 1 - featuring Language of Shapes

Here we go then folks! The Malaclypse Podcast launches with the help, and patience, of Brighton based,psych-folk, band, Language of Shapes. I cooked them some veggie chilli, and got to know Tristram and J.E. from the band a bit better. We chatted about influences, and their experiences of gigging and recording in South Korea, where, up until recently, they were living.

Florilège by Brighton based band, Greenness.

Florilège by Brighton based band, Greenness.

This meticulously packaged delight comes with each copy uniquely decorated by members of the Brighton based band, Greenness. It includes their most recent offering, the Cyclicity EP, and their 2016 release Bicephaly.
I met singer Cess down the White Rabbit, to fetch the CDs off her, and we had a lovely chat about how the band's going. Apparently they are looking at a new release coming soon, so keep your ears to the early bird. It was extremely surprising to find out that the Cyclicity release had been recorded, and produced, by multi-talented band mate Graham, in his living room. Cess' sublime vocals soar above beautifully crafted tracks, that seem to draw from, amongst others, folk, tribal, and even Cuban influences.
Us folk down t'market will be looking forward to the new material to come.

New music and art stall opens in Brighton - selling vinyl, cassettes, and paintings by local artists and musicians

A huge thank you to everyone who came down to support our first day in the Upper Gardner Street market in Brighton. It was so much fun!

Benjamin ThomasMalaclypse Market
Folk were browsing the local Brighton music that we have on offer at the stall. With people having a listen to the cassette tapes, vinyl, and CDs at our makeshift listening post (an iPhone with some headphones).

A special mention goes to Brighton artists, Benjamin Thomas and Mungo Austin, for helping out all day, watching the stall and chatting to customers.
We met loads of Brighton musicians and artists, who shared their art with us. Many of whom were keen to bring their work down next Saturday. We're really looking forward to seeing/hearing it all!

Our Facebook live broadcasts were a big success with people tuning in and commenting/liking. You can find the videos on my facebook profile (see the link below).

Thanks also to Brighton artist, Robert Hill, for bringing down a huge painting of an African centaur, and also to all the Brighton musicians who contributed their vinyl, CDs and cassette
tapes which all attracted a lot of attention  from the punters.

We'll see you all next Saturday 10am-5pm at the Upper Gardner Street Market, Brighton
(opposite The Old Stables).
